Posters and Demos represent the cutting-edge of the UbiComp / ISWC program. Following the long fruitful tradition of poster and demo presentations, UbiComp / ISWC 2020 is soliciting submissions for a Virtual Posters / Demos Program.
Posters feature preliminary or exploratory work within the field of ubiquitous and wearable computing, report about smaller projects or results that are still maturing towards a full paper submission, or present any other research that would encourage discussion. Demos feature showcases of your early implementations, prototypes, work in-progress systems, and even already commercial products to a broad audience.
All accepted submissions will be included in UbiComp / ISWC 2020 Adjunct Proceedings and in the ACM Digital Library. These are not considered to be archival publications; presentation in this venue will not affect the ability for researchers to subsequently publish this work in an archival forum as a conference / journal paper.
All posters / demos will be considered for the best poster / demo awards. The voting for the best poster / demo awards will be conducted during the conference and announced at the end of the conference.
Virtual Poster & Demo
Due to the shift to a virtually hosted conference for UbiComp / ISWC 2020, we are soliciting submissions for posters / demos that are suitable for virtual presentation through a still poster or a brief video. If you are interested in presenting a demo that is engaging and deliverable via a virtual format, but requires more than just a still poster or a brief video, please reach out to the PDV organizers directly.
What to Submit
- An extended abstract (including all figures and references) explaining your proposed poster or demonstration. Please use the template detailed in the template information. (Required)
- A short video. (Required for Demo, Optional for Poster)
Extended Abstracts
describing the research ideas or results are solicited. They should discuss the novelty and distinguishing ideas or approaches that it brings to the Ubiquitous Computing / ISWC community. The abstract should be self-explanatory, i.e., it must be understandable even without seeing the poster / demo. Each extended abstract can be up to 4 pages (including all figures and references). Please use the template detailed in the template information.
The review process will be single blind. Submissions must *NOT* be anonymized! Please make sure that your submitted abstract complies with all the formatting guidelines and is ready for publication if it is accepted; there will be no time to make major revisions.
Supporting Videos
Videos of up to four minutes and 100 MB are required for demos and encouraged for posters. These videos will help promote easier understanding of your research. UbiComp / ISWC 2020 is planning to utilize video of accepted posters before and during the conference as promotional material. Videos uploaded for camera ready submission will be included in the conference proceedings as supplemental material.
(For Demo Submissions) The video should clearly explain the demo concept. The primary purpose of the video and the extended abstract is to communicate to the demo selection committee what the demo is about and how it fits the UbiComp / ISWC community. In the submitted video, please note that your video must showcase the working version of the demo system (software or hardware). Moreover, the extended abstract should convince the reader that the system works (pictures are highly encouraged). After acceptance, the organizers will work with the authors to find the most suitable way to present the demo in the virtual format.
NOTE: The initial video can be of informal quality (it just needs to show the concept) as it will only be used for the selection process. Only the final video submitted with the camera-ready version of your accepted demo will be archived and published on the ACM Digital Library.
Extended Abstract and Poster for Accepted Authors
If your proposed poster / demo is accepted, we require that you submit a camera-ready version of your extended abstract by the camera-ready deadline.

Posters / Demos should be submitted electronically through https://new.precisionconference.com/submissions.
- Please select "SIGCHI" as Society, "UbiComp / ISWC 2020" as Conference / Journal and "Ubicomp 2020 / ISWC Posters and Demos" as the track in the submission page.
- In the submission page, please select "Poster" or "Demo" as "type of submission" and upload your extended abstract, and your video as supplemental files at the submission portal.
- The review process will be single blind. Submissions must NOT be anonymized!

Publication Date
AUTHORS TAKE NOTE: The official publication date is the date the proceedings are made available in the ACM Digital Library. This date may be up to two weeks prior to the first day of the UbiComp / ISWC 2020 conference. The official publication date affects the deadline for any patent filings related to published work. (For those rare conferences whose proceedings are published in the ACM Digital Library after the conference is over, the official publication date remains the first day of the conference.)
