Important Hotel Information

Our block of rooms at the Suisse-Majestic Hotel is filling rapidly. There are no rooms available for the night of the 11th. Please make sure you have received a confirmation of your booking. If not, please write a mail to Maria Hess (), the person responsible for our block of rooms at that hotel, in order to clarify the issue. Make sure you specify in your mail that you e-mailed or faxed the reservation and specify the name used for booking.

In case you do not find a room at the Suisse-Majestic Hotel, especially for the days before the conference, there are a lot of other hotels in the city.

The official web-site of the tourist office of Montreux provides a tool to look for available rooms in many hotels in the neighborhood. Go to this page, then click on "accomodations" and "online booking". Select "Montreux" as the city and search for the desired type of hotel. Please be careful since the search engine does not only return hotels within the city of Montreux but also in the neighboring areas.

You may also try this other search tool. In "Destination" type Montreux. Then be sure to select the city in Switzerland, and you will get a list of hotels. Again make sure to select hotels within Montreux, since the search tool also returns hotels in the neighboring city of Vevey (which is very close by train or bus, but nevertheless not the same city).

Make sure you are not too far from the conference hotel. You may check Mappy.com to get online maps and verify this.

In case you do not find the hotel you desire in Montreux, there are neighboring cities that also offer accomodation. Among them: Vevey (5-9 minutes away by train, trains every 10-20 minutes) and Villeneuve (5-7 minutes away by train, trains every ~30 minutes). Train timetables are available at the Swiss Railways site.

The Astra Hotel in Vevey is located near the Vevy train station and currently has free rooms from the 10th through the 15th. Registration is possible online through the web site. Address:

Swiss plugs/power outlets are different from those in the rest of europe, including germany. We cannot provide adapters, so don't forget to take your adapters for laptops, demo session, etc. Below is a picture of the standard plug/outlet in switzerland. Be careful about the type of adapter you bring, since it has to fit in the recessed "hexagonal" outlet.

The nearest major airport is Geneva (GVA). There is a convenient train station in Geneva airport with frequent service to Montreux. This trip takes ~80 minutes, but check below for exact timetables. Swiss trains nearly always run on time!
