ISWC 2017, the 21st annual International Symposium on Wearable Computers, is the premier forum for wearable computing and issues related to on-body and worn mobile technologies. ISWC brings together researchers, product vendors, fashion designers, textile manufacturers, users, and related professionals to share information and advances in wearable technology.
ISWC invites submissions on everything related to computing on the body, such as on-body sensing and sensor networks; wearables for professional use, mobile healthcare, or entertainment; wearability and interaction; and “on-the-go” uses of mobile devices and systems.

Wearable Systems
Submissions are sought that describe innovations in wearables as collections of sensors, processing means (usually but not limited to smart phones), and I/O and/or combinations of systems.

Novel form factors, e-textiles, functional clothing
ISWC has a long standing history in publishing research that describes innovative form factors of wearables, along with latest trends in e-textiles and functional clothing. Authors are invited to submit groundbreaking research in this area to be considered for publication at ISWC.

Data Analytics for Wearables
A core concern of wearable computing is the analysis of sensor data. As such ISWC invites submissions that are concerned with the wider field of data analytics in wearable computing including but not limited to novel modeling and analysis techniques and its applications to wearable computing.

Wearables Applications and User Experiences
Traditionally Wearable computing has been very focussed on innovative applications and new user experiences. ISWC 2017 seeks exceptional contributions that introduce new application domains and novel ways of interacting with and through wearables.

Wearables and Society
With increased popularity and wide uptake of wearable computing comes great responsibility and new ethical questions to be addressed. Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts that focus on how wearables could be used for the public good, and on general issues around privacy and safety in the context of wearable computing.
Reviewing
ISWC is changing its reviewing process. All submissions are due at the date mentioned above. First notifications for all papers will be sent out after June 9, 2017. Papers that are rejected in round one might be invited for resubmission in revised form (“revise and resubmit”). These revisions are due June 30, 2017 at 11:59 HAST. Final notifications for invited revised papers will be sent out after July 7, 2017.

Submissions
Each full paper, note, or poster should be anonymized and must be submitted in ACM Computer Science Press (double column) format (LaTeX and MS Word templates): full papers not longer than 8 pages in length, notes not longer than 4, posters not longer than 2. All accepted submissions will be included in the printed conference main proceedings. Full papers and notes are presented in the paper sessions. Submissions to ISWC 2017 must not be under review by any other conference or publication during the ISWC review cycle, and must not be previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere. Full Papers
Regular paper submissions must present original, highly innovative, prospective and forward-looking research in one or more of the themes given above. Full papers must break new ground, present new insight, deliver a significant research contribution and provide validated support for its results and conclusions. Successful submissions typically represent a major advance for the field of wearable computing, referencing and relating the contribution to existing research work, giving a comprehensive, detailed and understandable explanation of a device, system, study, theory or method, and support the findings with a compelling evaluation and/or validation.
Notes and Posters
Notes (not longer than four pages in length) and posters (not longer than two pages in length) are intended for succinct work that is nonetheless in a mature state ready for inclusion in archival proceedings. Both notes and posters will be held to the same standard of scientific quality as full papers, albeit for a shorter presentation and must still state how they fit with respect to related work, and provide a compelling explanation and validation.
Reviewing Process for Papers, Notes, Posters
ISWC 2017 adopts a double-blind process for full papers, notes and posters. Authors‘ names and their affiliations must not be revealed or mentioned anywhere in the submission. At least two members of the Program Committee and a set of external expert reviewers will review submitted papers. At a physical PC meeting, the committee will select those papers, notes, and posters to be presented at ISWC 2017.
ISWC 2017 is introducing a "revise and resubmit" option for the outcome of the reviewing process. Papers that are rejected in round one might be invited for resubmission in revised form (“revise and resubmit”). Clear instructions will be communicated to authors via the reviews from round one. Resubmissions will undergo the same rigorous reviewing process (by the same reviewers assigned to the original submission) and may be accepted for publication at ISWC 2017.
